I myself am not a big "video game" fan; yes I do indulge myself in a game of Guitar Hero from time to time. I do not understand how kids can become addicted to games. I may play twice or three times a week, depending on how the units are going for me. I have heard the addiction becoming so bad that, that it is basically all the person does. They become completely engulfed in the game and are unaware of what is goin on around them.
I think kids become addicted to these games because they are not involved enough with things that are going on around them. They are usually very lazy, and rather sit at home and turn into a mindless zombie in front of the television/computer/game boy screen, then go outside and have a bike ride, or even a pick up game of basketball. This is when the addiction becomes a health hazard, when children rather sit inside eating and playing video games; their health becomes a problem. Physical activity is necessary to good health. There are many fun activities that are available for youth to take part in now a day; they just choose to not take part in them.
I also blame the parents for allowing their children to play the game/games to the point where they become addicted. It is partially the parent’s duty to cut their children off and tell them enough is enough. In the household the parents are the iron hand of the law and need to be active in their child’s life and not let it get to that point.
I personally think it is completely ridiculous for kids to become almost inseparable to these games. There is no excuse to choosing to play this games rather then interacting with their friends. This I think is caused by lack of involvement with the people and environment around them. Most kids will deny having an addiction to the game and would rather tell people that they just enjoy playing the game.
Video games are good in moderation but harmful when played for too long. REMEMBER!

The Presidential Campaign; WOOH OBAMAAA!
This November a memoric event in America's history took place. Barack Obama was elected as president of the United States. This campaign I feel has been a very controversial issue for some people.
As we all know Barack Obama is the first African American to be elected for President. There were many American citizens who were against his running for President simply for his race. Racism was a large factor in this election. Many people were aginst the idea of having a person of black decent as president.
In this commercial we see that the guys are talking to each other while doing their own individual activities. At first all the guys were all in their respected homes and talking to each other on the phone. Then they show the future when the guys are all on the phone again but a few things have changed. One guy is stationed in Iraq, where the war is going on, the other is checking the stock markets, which have now fallen, and the last is in incredible pain and in need of medication. In this commercial we see that Obama has chosen these men to represent the different issues that the United States are facing. The man in Iraq is to represent the on going problems the U.S is having, concerning the war. Many Americans have been affected by the attacks and combat that is going on there. The other individual is in his room checking, once again on the stock market. When he realizes that the stocks had dropped significantly he attempts suicide. That person is to represent the financial predicament they are having in America is a burden on many of the citizens. The other person is in a great deal of pain, and in need of medication, but he is not able to get them. This person is supposed to represent the health care problems that The States have going on.
All of these men have their own message they are trying to put across to the viewers, at the end of the commercial it shows the first guy watching TV and Barack Obama is on the screen, and when the guy says "wazzzaaaaup" the guy responds "change". This commercial to me is to show the viewers with Obama in charge there will be many different things changing, and improvements in The States. He can be the root of change in the States, is what he is trying to tell them.
Yes I do think it is an effective advertisement because it brings some issues that are usual under the radar to light, for the viewers.
