This November a memoric event in America's history took place. Barack Obama was elected as president of the United States. This campaign I feel has been a very controversial issue for some people.
As we all know Barack Obama is the first African American to be elected for President. There were many American citizens who were against his running for President simply for his race. Racism was a large factor in this election. Many people were aginst the idea of having a person of black decent as president.
In this commercial we see that the guys are talking to each other while doing their own individual activities. At first all the guys were all in their respected homes and talking to each other on the phone. Then they show the future when the guys are all on the phone again but a few things have changed. One guy is stationed in Iraq, where the war is going on, the other is checking the stock markets, which have now fallen, and the last is in incredible pain and in need of medication. In this commercial we see that Obama has chosen these men to represent the different issues that the United States are facing. The man in Iraq is to represent the on going problems the U.S is having, concerning the war. Many Americans have been affected by the attacks and combat that is going on there. The other individual is in his room checking, once again on the stock market. When he realizes that the stocks had dropped significantly he attempts suicide. That person is to represent the financial predicament they are having in America is a burden on many of the citizens. The other person is in a great deal of pain, and in need of medication, but he is not able to get them. This person is supposed to represent the health care problems that The States have going on.
All of these men have their own message they are trying to put across to the viewers, at the end of the commercial it shows the first guy watching TV and Barack Obama is on the screen, and when the guy says "wazzzaaaaup" the guy responds "change". This commercial to me is to show the viewers with Obama in charge there will be many different things changing, and improvements in The States. He can be the root of change in the States, is what he is trying to tell them.
Yes I do think it is an effective advertisement because it brings some issues that are usual under the radar to light, for the viewers.
I think that Barack Obama being elected for president is the proceeding of a lot of change in The United States.

Being the avid CNN, and MSNBC viewer that I am, I'm going to have to disagree with this statement, simply because numerous times it was made clear that the average American didn't care that that he was black, and that they voted for him because of what he stood for and how he could help the entire nation. His being black was just a coincidence, really.
What about the guy in the hurricane. That was the only Spanish person in the commercial talk about seletive editing. Race was not that much of a factor because he took many of the republic and rural states. Black President whats wrong with that? They have black presidents in Africa and Trinidad. Since when was race a factor when it comes to politics; hi :)- diana !The Politicians were never limited to the race of that country. They just never had a cofident and educated candidate to run. The limits of the election were the fear and dobt that stayed in the minds of potential candidates. The fear of Assination was one of the biggest fears because even a american president was assainated. A good president is one that can face their fears and press onward for the good of the nation, despite endangerment for themselves. Barack Obama is this kind of leader you should not pay attention to race. If we were all colorblind their would be no contest for the election. The funny thing is he still won in a landslide victory. So stop your hating and appreciate the kind of leader they elected. Cause our prime minster is a greedy a-hole and hides behind a cabinet and party.

Just because there was only one Spanish guy doesn't mean that there was selective editing; if that were true then this ad would also be sexist, but it's not; the ad is just trying to stick to the original one as much as possible. And just because he took many of the republic and rural states does not mean that race was not a factor in this election.
I agree with Nykosi, race was definitely a factor in this election. sadly race is a factor in many parts of our lives but the fact that BArack Obama was elected shows us that the world is changing and that it is becoming more tolerant. With Barack Obama as the new president of the United States it is clear that Change is coming.
